Tesla Powerwall, Solar PV & EV Charging
UCS Renewables confirmed the client’s renewable energy requirements, we provided a quotation for the installation of a turnkey energy solution. The client opted to install the Tesla Powerwall and solar PV so that excess generated electricity could be stored for later use. The chosen electric vehicle charger, the Zappi, integrated into the system to charge the client’s electric vehicle using solar energy. They can opt to charge directly from the panels or from the battery depending on electricity demand.

What are Dedicated EV Chargers?
An EV charger gives your business or property a dedicated charger for your electric car, making day-to-day charging much simpler.
A dedicated EV charger is usually fitted to an exterior wall or suitable outbuilding close to your parking spots. A dedicated EV charger is 8-10 times faster than a standard UK socket.
Modern electric cars and smart charger units can also work with smartphone apps and smart meters that work with your EV charging point. This can help you:
- Schedule charging.
- Track energy usage.
- Make use of cheaper off-peak rates.
- Keep your car charged for daily journeys.
If you are planning wider energy upgrades, EV charging can also be considered alongside solar panel installation, so your charger fits into the way your business or property uses and generates electricity.
Commercial EV Charging Station Installation
Commercial EV charging station installation helps businesses provide charging facilities for staff, customers, tenants, and company vehicles. As more drivers make the switch to electric vehicles, on-site charging is becoming a practical benefit for workplaces and commercial sites.
UCS Renewables can help businesses plan charging stations around real site use. This includes where charging points should go, how many sockets are needed, whether three-phase power is needed, and how the charging points will be managed.
Commercial EV charging can be useful for:
- Offices with staff or visitor parking.
- Warehouses and industrial units.
- Retail sites and customer car parks.
- Schools, public sector buildings and local authority sites.
- Landlords and property managers.
For companies already using or considering commercial solar solutions, EV charging can be planned as part of a wider energy strategy.
How Much Does an EV Charger Installation Cost?
EV charger installation costs vary depending on the charger unit, cable route, power supply, parking setup, and any additional costs that come with extra electrical work.
A standard installation is usually more straightforward when the charger is close to the fuse box, there is a suitable exterior wall, and the parking space is easy to reach. The installation cost may increase if additional cabling is needed, the electricity supply requires work, or the installation involves multiple charge points.
The best way to understand the overall cost of an EV charging installation process is to arrange a survey. UCS Renewables can check your property or site, explain the options and confirm whether any additional costs may apply before installation begins.
EV Charging FAQs
Will the EV Installation Fit My Electric Vehicle?
Yes, a standard EV charger will fit any electric vehicle, as long as your EV uses a Type 2 connector. This is the standard for almost all EVs in the UK and EU.
How Long Does EV Charger Installation Take?
A straightforward EV charger installation can often be completed in a day, depending on the property type, cable route, and electrical setup. More complex commercial installations can take longer, especially if extra cabling, ground work or power supply checks are needed.
