Client Background

The client contacted us to advise that their existing solar PV array had an inverter error. The installation was completed by an alternative company that had ceased trading since her installation was finalised years ago. An interest was expressed in installing an electric vehicle charger to integrate with their existing PV solution. The client advised that they would like to use the electricity generated by their panels to power their car.

The Challenge

We had to quickly identify the source of the inverter error to advise if it was a simple fix or if the entire unit needed replacing.

What UCS Renewables Did

We discovered that the inverter fault was irreparable, we communicated with Solis to arrange a replacement 3.6kW inverter. Our engineers quickly replaced the faulty product and had the client's PV system back up and running efficiently with little downtime.

After discussing the variety of EV chargers that we are approved to install, the client opted for a 7kW Untethered Rolec Wall Pod. The Rolec integrates seamlessly with existing solar PV systems. The handy mobile app allows our clients to divert generated electricity from their solar panels to their home or EV charger.

Our client opted to leave a review of our services via our Check A Trade, rating our service 10 out of 10.

The Curve, Teesside University

Working on behalf of local firm Castle Building Services, we installed 177 x 250w solar panels to generate clean, renewable energy. The panels were placed in an east-west configuration using a Renusol FS10 East/West mounting system to make use of the limited space available and ensure maximum exposure to the sun. The result is that the solar panels generate green electricity 365 days a year, providing a renewable energy source and allowing Teesside University to meet its sustainability targets.

Pulman Skoda Durham

UCS installed 80 solar panels onto the showroom’s roof. Working with Kingspan, we designed the layout of solar panels so that the array didn’t affect the integrity of the roof. We used drawings supplied by Kingspan and their standing seam brackets in the installation. The result was a roof of commercial solar panels carefully designed and installed to generate solar power for the showroom. The installation looks great and the building runs on solar energy, meaning low running costs for Pulman Skoda’s flagship showroom.
