Client Background

Geoffrey Robinson is a family run business and is one of the largest mechanical and electrical contractors in the North East of England.

Since 1971 they have offered a range of services and continually expand their portfolio and client base.

The Challenge

UCS Renewables were invited to quote for the installation of a solar PV system on the flat roof of their new storage building.

What UCS Renewables Did

The installation of the 30kW solar PV system increased Geoffrey Robinson’s green energy generation as they already had a 3.5kW solar PV system installed on another of their Billingham based buildings by an alternative company.

Greenbank, Hartlepool

UCS Renewables completed surveys of the building in addition to reviewing the provided energy efficiency report, to conclude that the roof was suitable for the installation of solar modules. A proposal was approved for SMEES funding for the installation of a 38kW array on a single flat roof.

Our Energy team worked with the provided drawings from McNally & Thompson to compile a suitable design to maximise the use of the available space and optimise solar generation. The installation was challenging as rising energy bills created a surge for solar installations increasing the strain of the supply chain and therefore reducing availability of required materials.
