UCS were contracted to complete the solar installation by Quartz, a mechanical and electrical contractor based only 5 minutes away from the UCS office. UCS have worked alongside Quartz across several projects prior to the Nunthorpe Medical Centre project.
The new medical centre was designed to meet the needs of the rising number of patients from the surrounding areas. The project was quick paced to ensure the centre could open its door to welcome staff and patients as soon as possible. Solar PV was incorporated into the building to tie in with the NHS’s decarbonisation plans.
UCS reviewed the drawings provided by the contractor and conducted a site survey to confirm the usable roof space, in this instance, there were two locations on the roof in which solar could be installed.
In June 2022, UCS progressed the installation of the solar PV system to offer thee estimated generation of 16689 kWh of electricity each year.
Project Overview
Working on behalf of local firm Castle Building Services, we installed 177 x 250w solar panels to generate clean, renewable energy. The panels were placed in an east-west configuration using a Renusol FS10 East/West mounting system to make use of the limited space available and ensure maximum exposure to the sun. The result is that the solar panels generate green electricity 365 days a year, providing a renewable energy source and allowing Teesside University to meet its sustainability targets.
ViewUCS installed 80 solar panels onto the showroom’s roof. Working with Kingspan, we designed the layout of solar panels so that the array didn’t affect the integrity of the roof. We used drawings supplied by Kingspan and their standing seam brackets in the installation. The result was a roof of commercial solar panels carefully designed and installed to generate solar power for the showroom. The installation looks great and the building runs on solar energy, meaning low running costs for Pulman Skoda’s flagship showroom.
