July 2020 saw Chancellor Rishi Sunak announce the UK Government’s new ‘Green Homes Scheme’. £2 billion has been set aside to provide homeowners throughout the UK vouchers to put towards the cost of installing energy-saving solutions such as:

  • Insulation
  • Heating
  • Draught Proofing
  • Double Glazing

The scheme aims to promote energy efficiency and boost the British economy during the Coronavirus pandemic by creating new jobs. It is estimated that additional energy-saving solutions can generate a £300 annual saving on your electricity bill.

The vouchers will cover up to two-thirds of the cost of the energy-saving solutions with a maximum contribution of £5000. Lower-income homes will have up to £10,000 of the total cost funded by the Government.  Application for the grant opens in September, it is expected that further information will be released prior to this.

It is unclear whether or not renewable energy solutions such as solar panels and battery storage will be covered by this scheme. Follow our social media platforms to be immediately notified if this should change in coming weeks.
